The Hudsonville Eagles cross country has not raced in over two weeks and they were excited to race again today.  There were many fast times and PR’s for the harriers.  On the Girls side, the varsity placed third behind powerhouses Northville and Saline.  Melanie Helder lead the way with a time of 19:12, bettering her previous time of 20:13!  Alyssa Sanchez continues to show her talent coming in just behind Melanie in 19:22.  Two phenomenal freshman also continue their quest to be the top in the league.  Zoe Louis (20:02) & Maddison Cook (20:08) are making their way to the 19’s quickly.  All for of these girls medaled. Anna Buist also shaved some major seconds off her previous time to help the team to that third place finish.

The boy’s varsity team is improving from meet to meet.  Lead by Derek Sanchez the team placed 6th.  Derek ran a hard fought race from start to finish and come 3 seconds shy from a lifetime personal record.  Kyle Chamberlain ran a respectable race and both medaled. Dylan Lame(So), Casey Olson (Fr), Nate Vruggink (Fr), and David McManus (Jr) all had solid races and look to make big improvements.

Both teams will be competing at the MSU invitational September 18th.  This meet is seen more as a pre-state meet.  The junior Varsity squads will be competing at the Sparta Invitational at Sparta high school on September 19th.
