Multiple Teams · JV Volleyball Wins Northview Tournament


The JV Volleyball team headed out to Northview High School for a full day tournament on Thursday, August 23.  They began their day in a pool with OK-Red Rival Grandville, as well as Lakewood and Zeeland West.  Their first match was against Grandville.  After a slow start by the Eagles, Grandville took the first set with a score of 16-25.  The Eagles picked up their intensity in set two and they won 25-12 to tie the match.

Next up was Lakewood.  The Eagles carried their momentum from Grandville into this match and won 2-0 with scores of 25-23 and 25-12.  Pool play ended with a match against Zeeland West.  The Eagles won 2-0 with scores of 25-22 and 25-16.  The Eagles finished first in their pool and an overall 3 seed out of 12 teams going into gold bracket play.

The Eagles faced #2 seed Forest Hills Central in the first round of the gold bracket.  With outstanding defense which translated into powerful offense, the Eagles swept the Rangers in two sets with scores of 25-23 and 25-18.

WIth this big win, the Eagles faced #1 seed Jension for the tournament finals match.  After back and forth rallies and points, Jenison took the first set 23-25.  The Eagles fought back in the second set and pulled out a victory with scores 27-25.   With momentum on their side, the Eagles cruised through the third set and won 15-5.
