Letting up from their performance of last Friday at Portage was not on the minds of the Eagle runners on this Tuesday. Both the girls and boys squads came out strong and ran good races for the team.
Coach Conkel switched up the schedule a little for 2015 to include this two-mile meet in Lansing early this season. The meet did not include team overall scores, but our runners went out strong and gained ground throughout their respective races.
One of the many bright spots on the day landed on our twins. Alyssa Sanchez took second overall for the girls along with being the first runner for the Hudsonville girls to cross the finish line. Her brother, Derek Sanchez, who ran a strong race, was the first among his teammates with a time of 10:46.
Congrats to the squads for a great second meet of the season. The runners will be working hard with their training over the next several weeks. The team will move into the heart of their season shortly after school begins early next month.
