The Hudsonville girls bowlers took first place in the Division 1 Regional winning by an impressive 247 pins. This made them back to back regional champions! Hudsonville has now advanced to the state finals for the 6th year in a row. Jade Bentley started the day with a strike in the first baker game helping the team roll a 209 team game. The Eagles never trailed from there. “It was a total team effort. The girls have been working hard all year in practice covering certain spare situations and it paid off on the lanes today,” added Coach Casey Schichtel. “To win regionals this year was such a big accomplishment. We needed to replace three senior starters from last years regional champion team. If you told me at the beginning of the season that we would repeat as regional champs I wouldn’t have believed you. I’m so proud of all the girls with how far they have come this year! We are peaking at the right time and look forward to the state tournament next weekend.” Scores on the day were as follows: Jade Bentley (180, 173, 180) Ashleigh Bowyer (171, 141, 186) Tanneill DeJongh (177, 181, 158) Mackenzie Lyons (151, 161, 171) Mackenzie Wiersma (178, 168, 185) Team Bakers (209, 158, 190, 114, 137, 195). The girls travel to Sterling Heights next Friday to compete with the best in the state.
