The 2017 JV competitive cheerleading season is nearing its half way point, and as the team continues to compete, they are showing great signs of improvement. The season got off to a great start with the first competition at Caledonia. This competition takes place quite early in the season, and with limited practice time beforehand, it is typically a challenge to have three completed rounds to compete. The team was able to work hard, stay focused, and start the season off with a great first impression, finishing in 2nd place over many strong teams.
The JV team has had to face a bit of adversity this season with unexpected injuries and illnesses, however, they have continued to be resilient and hardworking. They currently have less competitors in both Round 1 and 3 than other teams they’re competing against, however they have been able to finish in the top 3 at every competition this far, remaining one of the teams to beat. Most recently the team traveled to Brighton, and in this competition, they received their highest overall score of the season. Another highlight of the weekend was the fact that the girls completed Round 3 without any falls for the first time this season.
Each round has seen improvement as the season progresses, including Round 2 where the back-walk-over timing has improved greatly. In Round 3, the team’s confidence and ability to hit a solid round has increased. This weekend, the high school will be busy as it hosts the Hudsonville Invitational. The JV cheerleaders are prepared and excited to compete in front of their home crowd! Please come out and support! The middle school competition begins at 9:30am, and the high school programs will compete starting at 1:30 PM. The JV competitive cheer team will go 6th in Round 1 and 8th in Round 2 and 3
