East Kentwood Recap
The Varsity Eagles Water Polo team claimed a win against EK 17-1. The dominate Eagles team was up 10-1 at half. Alaina Lubbers lead the team with 7 goals and 5 steals. Additional goals were made by Maddy Jones (2), Emily Tuttle (2), Madeline Worst (2), Grace Boeve, Miranda Buchner, Serena DeJonge, and Kelly Peasley.
This was a highly anticipated game for the Eagles as they had lost a very tight game 3-4 to Rockford at the Hudsonville Mini Tournament over the weekend. The Eagles started with a very strong lead and was able to finish the first quarter with a lead of 5-2 and extend the lead to 9-3 to end the first half.
Claire Tuttle lead the team in goals (3), steals (8) and field blocks (1). Annalise Patsiavos had a solid game protecting the goal by blocking 9 shots. Alaina Lubbers had 2 goals and Madeline Worst, Emily Tuttle, Maddy Jones, Serena De Jonge and Kelly Peasley each contributed a goal to the final score. Alaina Lubbers was able to draw 8 exclusions on the Rockford team which lead to 2 of the Rams each receiving their 3rd exclusion in the 4th quarter.
The game ended with the Eagles leading the Rams 10 -7. With this win the Women’s Water Polo Varsity Team is now leading the OK Rainbow Conference.
Forest Hills Recap
HHS Eagles Varsity Water Polo beat Forest Hills 12-7 to increase their OK Rainbow Conference Record to 7-0 to lead the conference and leading the West Region – District 1 with a record of 4-0. Scoring points for the Eagles was a well-rounded team including Grace Boeve (3), Claire Tuttle (2), Maddy Jones (2), Miranda Buchner (1), Jessica Otey (1), Serena DeJonge (1), Emily Tuttle (1) and Lauren Phelps (1). Madeline Worst, Maddy Jones and Serena DeJonge also played a strong defensive game contributing to the team win with additional steals and drawing exclusions.
Hudsonville Women’s Water Polo will be hosting teams, along with Zeeland Women’s Water Polo, this weekend for a tournament with the top teams from the West Michigan and Illinois.
The HHS Eagles will host Jenison on Tuesday, May 2nd for their Senior Night Recognition of Miranda Buchner, Alaina Lubbers and Emily Tuttle.
