Boys Junior Varsity Lacrosse, Boys Varsity Lacrosse · Boys Varsity Lacrosse defeats Caledonia- Conference Champions

A night of celebration and a school record was the story of the Eagles game Friday night in Hudsonville.  The Eagles claimed their second consecutive Conference Championship and Senior attackman Colton Warren set a school record with six goals in the Eagles 10-4 victory.

The game was close going into half but the offensive outburst by Warren and the lockdown 2nd half defense and strong goaltending, turned the game quickly in the Eagles favor.

Also adding to the Warren 6 goals, was Junior attackman Jack Beltz netting 2 goals and 3 assists, Senior middie Cameron Block notching a goal and an assist and finishing out the scoring barrage was Sophomore attackman Jon Bickford getting a goal and two assists.  Senior middie Charlie Hinken also added an assist.

The defense, after giving up a couple early goals, locked down on the fighting Scots allowing only two more goals with Senior middie Derek Sanchez adding to his team leading groundballs scooping up 6, and Senior goal keeper Gerrit Kurtcyz stoped 17 of 21 shots for a save percentage of 81, and facing only one shot in the 4th period.

Varsity Lacrosse drops final regular season game to Vicksburg on Saturday

Playing their 2 second game in less than 24 hours the tired Eagles could not hold off the Vicksburg Bulldogs, the #15 ranked team in the state, losing 9-8 in a back and forth game.

The Eagles offense was lead by Senior middie Cam Block and Senior attack Colton Warren both with two goals each. Rounding out the Eagle scoring for the day was Senior Middie Jack Berry, Junior attack Jack Beltz and Sophomore attack Jon Bickford all finding the back of the net once each. Senior middie Charlie Hinken had two assists and Bickford had two and Beltz one.

Goalie Senior Gerrit Kurtcyz stopped 15 of 24 shots and Senior middie Derek Sanchez had 7 ground balls to lead the Eagles

The Eagles finished the regular Season at 12-5 and all 5 of the losses are too top 15 ranked teams and 3 of them to the #1 seed in the regionals (Rockford, Hartland and Brighton)

The playoffs start Thursday May 18 at Hudsonville with the 2nd seeded Eagles facing Kalamazoo United in Hudsonville at 7:15pm. Come out and support your Eagles as they make their run toward the state championship.  Since this is an MHSAA event no passes or Eagle cards will be accepted.
