The Eagles cruised past an over matched Kalamazoo United 17-3 Thursday night in Hudsonville as the Seniors played their last game in Eagle stadium.
The Eagles came out of the gate quickly and were up 6-0 midway through the first period and were up 13-1 at half. The scoring came from all over but leading the barrage was Senior middie, Charlie Hinken with a hat trick, 3 goals. Seniors Middies Cam Block and Jack Berry and sophomore middie Justin Rappuhn all had two goals a piece. Senior middie Conner Heidema and Siena Heights University commit, Senior attack Nate McDaid, Senior attack Colton Warren, Junior middie Bryan Walker, Junior middie Spencer Alexander, Junior attack Jack Beltz, and sophomores middie Mason Piper and attack Jon Bickford round out of scoring with a goal each
Jack Beltz also contributed a team high three assists followed by Jon Bickford with two. Seniors Colton Warren and Jack Berry, Juniors Jordan Rookus and Nate McDaid and Sophomore Justin Rappuhn all had an assist. Leading the team in ground balls for both the night (4) and the year was Senior middie and Palm Beach Atlantic University commit Derek Sanchez.
In goal Senior goalie Gerrit Kurtcyz after a half of work and allowing only one goal gave way to just called up and future 2018 varsity goalie Josh Millenbach, who only gave up two goals and made some great stops and clears in his varsity debut.
The Eagles now advance to the Regional Semi Finals against Zeeland Wednesday May 24 at 7:15pm at Grandville high school. Come out and support your Eagles as the boys continue there run in the MHSAA playoffs.
