Girls Junior Varsity Water Polo, Girls Varsity Water Polo · Girl’s Water Polo Prepares for State after 2nd place Finish at Regionals


The Lady Eagles started the weekend tournament on Friday evening with a game against Forest Hills. The Eagles took a commanding lead in the first half with a score of 11-0. Since the Eagles were leading by more than 10 points, the remaining quarters were shortened. The Eagles finished continued the very strong defensive game holding Forest Hills at 0 with Analise Patsiavos with 11 blocks on goal and Emma Lamers with 8.  Grace Boeve (5), Claire Tutte (4),  and Emily Tuttle (4), lead the team for steals. Alaina Lubbers (5), Grace Boeve (3), Claire Tuttle (3), Maddy Jones (2), and Emily Tuttle (2) scored goals for the Eagles to contribute to the strong offensive game. While Serena DeJonge and Emily Tuttle led the team with assists. With this win on Friday evening, the Eagles will advance to the State Championship Tournament.
The next game was played Saturday morning against East Grand Rapids. Again the Eagles took a big lead in the first half to finish 9-0, just one goal shy of playing shortened quarters for the second half. Leading goal scores for this game included Alaina Lubbers (3), Madeline Worst (3), Claire Tuttle (2), and Emily Tuttle (2). Madeline Worst also lead the team in assists. Emily Tuttle lead the team with 6 steals. The Eagles finished this all-around strong game 12-0.
In the Regional Championship game on Saturday evening, the Eagles played the Rockford Rams. This game started out very tight and after the first quarter the score was 1-1. The tight game continued in the 2nd quarter and the Rams lead at half 3-2. The Rams continued an accurate offensive game and a very strong defensive game with the goalie, blocking a total of 16 shots on goal by the end of the game, and ended the 3rd quarter with a lead of 5-2. The Eagles rallied in the 4th quarter but also couldn’t counter the Rams offensive and lost 5-7. Scoring for the Eagles were Alaina Lubbers (2), Emily Tuttle (2), and Claire Tuttle (1). Analise Patsiavos played a strong game blocking 10 shots on goal.
With these games, the Eagles are the Runner-Up for the West Region!
