After a stunning victory over powerhouse Rockford at the #2 conference Jamboree Tuesday October 3, the boys bounced back and placed 9th at the Portage Invitational out of 49 teams. This meet is known as a semi-state meet going into the final stretch of the season. Top teams in the state were represented as well as dominate teams from Ohio and Illinois. This 9th place finish is the highest placed finish ever by the Hudsonville boys cross country program. Their was only 7 seconds between Ryan Nibbelink (the 2nd hudsonville runner) and Dylan Lame (the 5th hudsonville runner) that made this possible. The top time on the team belonged to Nate Vruggink running a 16:54 and placed 42nd overall and medaled.
The girls team did not fair so well amidst bee stings and slight injuries, placing 23rd out of 44 teams. Melanie Helder placed 16th and secured a medal running an 18:58.
