Eagles News · Girl’s Water Polo 10-0 to Start Season

The Varsity Girls Water Polo team and new head coach Ian Hewett bring their season record to 10-0 after a pair of wins last week in conference games and finishing a tournament this weekend 4-0.
On Tuesday team hosted their first regular season play with Analise Patsiavos with a shutout game against a conference Forest Hills team. Analise blocked all 9 shots on goal! Madeline Worst (6), Maddy Jones (6) and McKenna Brink (4) also contributed to the strong defensive play by leading the team in steals. Leading the offensive against Forest Hills was Madeline Worst – 5 goals, Claire Tuttle – 4 goals, and Serena DeJonge – 3 goals. Also Madeline Worst lead the team with 6 assists and Claire won all 4 sprints to start each quarter. The team lead 7-0 at half and continued the strong play in the second half to finish the game 17-0.
On Thursday they went to EGR for another conference game. Leading the team in goals was Claire – 4 goals and Madeline Worst – 3 goals. Claire also had 4 assists in the offensive game play. This team continues to be a very strong defensive force with Analise blocking 7 shots on goal. Also Claire and Maddy Jones lead the team with 6 steals each. The team lead 9-1 at the half and finished the game 16-2.
Over the weekend the team finished 4-0 at the Shootout at the Shore tournament hosted by Grand Haven. On Friday evening the team beat the current number one MWPA seeded Rockford 7-2 as the Eagles continued a with strong defensive play in a very physical game. On Saturday the team beat Jenison 10-2, east side Birmingham Seaholm 17-0, and West Ottawa 6-3.
The team will host East Kentwood on Tuesday with JV playing at 6:00 pm and Varsity at 7:00 pm.
