Eagles News · Kasey DeSmit and Eric Elliot Honored by the West Michigan Officials Association


One of the greatest honors an athlete or coach can receive in West Michigan is through the West Michigan Officials Association. The officials from this organization nominate individuals who best represent those who display sportsmanship while achieving a high level of success.

Kasey was recognized as the high school girl’s basketball player of the year.  Kasey ends her high school career by breaking just about every school record in Hudsonville history including the all time leader in scoring and assists. She is also in the MHSAA records books as one of only 26 players who have played more than a 100 varsity games in her career.

Eric was recognized as the boy’s basketball coach of the year. As the boy’s Varsity basketball coach Eric has be a part of 6 district championships, 2 conference championships, and 2 regional championships.  The 9 years Eric has been at the helm of the boy’s basketball program are the 9 most successful years in the history of our program.

With all the success both have obtained their greatest attribute is they have “done it the right way” through there hard work, dedication, and high character.  Congratulations to both for this achievement.
