Tuesday night in lacrosse action, the Eagles defeated the Panthers of West Ottawa 8-5, to improve their record to 5-2 for the year. In a game where both teams struggled, the Panthers jumped out to a quick 2-0 before the Eagles battled back to tie it and head into half time with the game tied 3-3. The third quarter was a battle, before the Eagles offense broke out and took the lead for good and finished the game with a 8-5 victory over the conference foe.
The Eagle defense allowed a total of 15 shots on goal and was lead by a great night by Sophomore goalie Josh Millenbach, who stopped 10 of 15 shots for a 66% save percentage. Senior defenseman and team captain Hunter Stearns lead the team with 3 ground balls in the Eagle victory.
The Eagle offense struggled at times but came to life as the game progressed. Senior attackman and team captain Jack Beltz, ripped in two goals, while Junior attackman Jon Bickford and Junior middie Justin Rappuhn each added two goals. The scoring was rounded out with Sophomore attackman Josh Petzold and Sophomore middie Bryce Hall both adding a goal. Senior middie Parker Selders had an assist along with both Rappuhn and Petzold. Bickford lead the team with two assists.
The Eagles have a short break until Saturday in Hudsonville when a very good Brighton Bulldogs team comes to town at 1:45pm. Come out and support your Eagles.
