Eagles News · Girl’s Water Polo Wins District Championship

 The Hudsonville Eagles started their post-season play with a game against Zeeland. The Hudsonville started strong in the first quarter to lead 3-0. The Eagles continued a strong offensive game while the defense allowed Zeeland to rally 4 goals to end the half 6-4. Hudsonville commanded the 3rd quarter scoring an additional 4 goals to end the quarter 10-5. Both teams netted 2 goals in the final quarter to finish the game 12-7. With this win the Eagles advanced to the District Championship game vs Jenison.

In the first quarter of the game against the Wildcats, the Eagles had a slow start. After the end of the first quarter score down 0-1, Hudsonville found the back of the net 5 times in the 2nd quarter while holding Jenison at their 1 goal to end the half leading 5-1. The Eagles again stalled in the 3rd quarter and the Wildcats added 1 goal to their score. Starting the last quarter the Eagles once again surged scoring another 3 goals and didn’t allow the Wildcats to finish with any additional point to end the game 8-2 to clinch their 5th consecutive District Championship.

The Eagles head to East Kentwood this weekend for the West Regional Tournament. On Friday evening they will face Forest Hills and the winner of the game will punch their ticket to the State Championship Tournament.
