Eagles News · Boy’s Water Polo Captures Conference Title for First Time in School History

The Hudsonville Boys Water Polo ended their regular season last week, with a senior night victory over Jenison. The win clinched the program’s first OK Conference Championship. The team finished with an undefeated 8-0 record in OK conference play. 


On the season as a whole, the team is 38-0 and ranked number one in the state. Many players have contributed to the success of the team. Goal leaders are senior Ian Worst (115), junior Colin McDowell (89), senior Chandler Jones (65), and senior John Dirkse (64). Jones leads the team in assists at 64, while senior Wesley Obetts has 54. Obetts also leads the team in steals at 108 with Jones right behind him at 99. The defense has been led by junior goalkeeper Eli Boonstra with 165 saves and a save percentage of 70%. 


The postseason begins this weekend with the District tournament at Zeeland, followed by the Regional tournament at HOME in Hudsonville next weekend, and the State tournament at East Lansing High School November 15 & 16.
