Game Recap

The Eagles comeback came up short to Manistee in a hard fought 4-3 loss. The first period would end in a 0-0 tie. The Eagles would get on the board first in the 2nd with a goal from Thaad Waalkes, assisted by Jack Beltz and Austin Terpstra. Manistee would tie the game, but Waalkes would respond with his second of the game assisted by Cy Doerr. Manistee would then take advantage of two, five minute penalties given to the Eagles and score the next three goals to take a 4-2 lead after two periods.

The Eagles would out shoot Manistee in the 3rd by 11-2 count but only get one goal by Blake Tuttle, assisted by Nate Folkert. The Eagles had plenty of other chances, but could not find the back of the net and dropped a close game 4-3.

Cam Griep was in net for the Eagles who faced 21 shots. The Eagles threw 36 shots on net in the loss. The Eagles will host their Annual Thanksgiving Tournament this Friday, Nov 24th at 7:30 vs Jackson United. Come out and support the Eagles!!!

Game Recap

Hudsonville opened their 2017-18 season at home with a strong performance in front of a lively student section and home crowd with a 6-2 win over the visiting Eastside Stars. Jack Beltz opened the scoring in the first period on a break away with an assist from Blake Tuttle. The Stars would tie the game a few minutes later and that is how the period would end, 1-1.

The second period was led off by a goal from Sam Boelema, assisted by Austin Terpstra and Nate Folkert. A few minutes later the Eagles would take a 3-1 lead with Beltz second goal and assists from Thadd Waalkes and Colton Barber. The 3rd period, Beltz would complete the hat trick with his 3rd goal, assisted by Waalkes and Caleb Goodemoot.

The Stars would pull within two to make it 4-2, but sophomore, Brendan Schaltz would net his first career varsity goal unassisted. Schaltz would then add an assist on the Eagles final goal of the game scored by Clay Griep. The Eagles received strong goal tending from Cam Griep who faced 19 shots. The Eagles are on the road to face Manistee on Saturday Nov 18th at 7:30 PM. Thank you to all the fans and students who came out to support the home opener!!! Go Eagles!

4. Class C top-ranked Bronson is plenty familiar with tonight’s Quarterfinal opponent, No. 2 Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central – Sturgis Journal

5. Class B No. 4 Niles is hoping to add to its first District and Regional titles with a first Quarterfinal win, over No. 3 Lake Odessa Lakewood – Niles Daily Star

6. Class A No. 3 Grand Rapids Christian downed top-ranked Rockford in the Regional, a big step as the Eagles pursue their first MHSAA championship in the sport with No. 4 DeWitt up next – FOX17

Traverse City West’s Anika Dy was named Miss Golf for the second time by the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association – Traverse City Record-Eagle

 

Cross Country:

Coldwater’s Shuaib Aljabaly and Lansing Catholic’s Olivia Theis were named Mr. Cross Country and Miss Cross County, respectively, by the Michigan Interscholastic Track Coaches Association – Coldwater Daily Reporter

2. Hamilton standout Paige Kuhn is banking on a strong finish in the final meet of her high school career – Holland Sentinel

3. Gaylord sophomore Grace Wambier is a school record holder and hopes to add to her accomplishments at the Division 3 Finals – Gaylord Herald Times

4. No. 7 Brighton is aiming to claim the Division 1 team championship with arguably its strongest assemblage of experienced contenders under coach Jason Black – Livingston Daily Press & Argus
