Hudsonville Eagles Freshman defeated Grand Haven Buccaneers 16-3 on Tuesday thanks to a timely nine runs in a big fifth inning. Hudsonville Eagles Freshman put the pressure on, lead by walks by Josh Aust, Josh Bennett, Garron Gahan, Peyton Wilson, and Matt Hoekstra, a fielder’s choice by Nate Avink, an error on a ball put in play by Nathan Bengston, and a double by Hoekstra.
Hudsonville Eagles Freshman opened up scoring in the first inning. Gahan singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the first inning, Grand Haven Buccaneers tied things up at two when Tithof singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.
Hudsonville Eagles Freshman pulled away for good with one run in the third inning. In the third Jackson Visser grounded out, scoring one run.
Hudsonville Eagles Freshman tallied nine runs in the fifth inning. Hoekstra, Aust, Bengston, Avink, Bennett, and Gahan powered the big inning with RBIs.
Quinn Dahl was credited with the victory for Hudsonville Eagles Freshman. He allowed four hits and three runs over five innings, striking out six and walking one.
Zalsman took the loss for Grand Haven Buccaneers. He went three and a third innings, allowing six runs on three hits.
