Hudsonville falls to Byron Center by one goal in a tough battle for both teams. Hudsonville came out fast in the first out shooting Byron Center 13-6, but were on the bottom of the scoreboard 2-1. Hudsonville’s loan goal was scored on the power play by Will Ford.
The second period was just the opposite, with Byron Center controlling the play, but the Eagles scoring first on a great pass from Jack Beltz to Thaad Waalkes who scored on a one timer from the slot. Colton barber also recorded an assist on the play to get things started and tie the game at two. However the tie would not last long and the Bulldogs would score the next three goals in two minutes.
After an Eagles timeout to regroup, they would cut the deficit to two with a goal from Jack Beltz unassisted. Which would cut the lead to two with one period to go. The 3rd period would get some timely goal tending from Cam Griep to keep the game within reach, and the Eagles would cut the lead to one with the extra attacker and a goal by Austin Terpstra, assisted by Nate Folkert and Waalkes. With 46 seconds left to play in the game, the Eagles had their chances but came up short.
