The Eagles hockey team were looking for their first win of the season and they earned it with a 5-2 win over visiting Fenton. The win also put the Eagles in their tournament championship game Saturday evening vs Romeo at 5:30 PM. The Eagles Jack Garrett scored the only goal of the 1st period assisted by Alex Mills and Jaden Plumert. The second period the Eagles would get their power play working with two power play goals. The first by Aidan Talsma with assists from Jackson Welch and Ryan Blackburn. Then Welch from Drew Mulder to take a 3-0 lead. The third period would have Cam Richards score with an assist from Josh Wells to go up 4-0. However Fenton would not go quietly as they scored two power play goals of their own. Mulder put a stop to that with an unassisted goal with 1:19 remaining. Derek Scholten recorded his first win of the season facing 22 shots. Thanks to all the fans that packed the rink for the home opener. Come back for the Championship game at 5:30 tomorrow evening. A reminder that each canned good donated is $1 off admission. Go Eagles!
