The Eagles Hockey Team returned to where it all began 16 years ago, East Kentwood HS. The first season of varsity hockey, the Eagles called Kentwood Ice Arena their home, as Goergetown Ice Center had not been built, and several current members of the team had not been born. The Eagles had also never beaten Kentwood in Ice Hockey. That would change Saturday Night as the Eagles would win 4-2.
The first period was a great paced game for both teams, ending 0-0. The Eagles would score three in the second period. Blake Tuttle received a nice pass from Luke Ritz and Brendan Schaltz to open the scoring, and then Ryan Blackburn would get a pair of goals to make the lead 3-0 in less than four minutes. The period would end 3-1. The Falcons of Kentwood would not go away easy as they out shot the Eagles 12-2 in the 3rd period and pulled with one, 3-2 before Schaltz scored the final goal with 1:42 left in the game, assisted by Tuttle. Reece WIgent came up big in goal during the third period to earn his fourth win of the season, making 19 saves on the night.
The Game was video taped by WKTV and is scheduled to be aired Tuesday December 18th at 11:00 PM and Wednesday December 19th at 5:00 PM on their local channels. Please check their website for additional details.
The Eagles will host West Catholic at Georgetown this Friday, 12/21 at 7:30 PM in a key league match-up. Come out and support your Eagles before the Holiday Break!!!
