The varsity ski teams competed in MHSAA Regionals on Monday at Cannonsburg. Our teams are in the most competitive region in the state featuring state contenders, Marquette, TC Central, TC West and Forest Hills. 11 teams came out for a huge event with excellent conditions. The girls team started out on slalom and showed some real technical strength with zero disqualifications for the tea and an 8th place finish. Scoring in SL were Gwen Marsh (30), Anna Bolhuis (36), Marlene Freiberg (38) and Samantha DeWitt (41). The team struggled a bit in SL but still put in some solid runs to finish in the 10th position. Scoring in GS were Anna Bolhuis (39), Marlene Freiberg (45), Veronica DeWitt (50), and Samantha DeWitt (51). The boys team also showed some strength in slalom with an 8th place finish. The team was lead by Ryer Harrell with a 23rd place result and 3 additional scoring SL times came from Kenan Fogt (44), Camillo Ciocchi (47), and Karson Smedley (49). The team took 10th in GS with scoring runs by Harrell (31), Ciocchi (46), Smedley (48) and Fogt (49). Shoutout to freshman, Eli Bentley for completing all 4 runs of in his first regional as well! The teams wrap up their season next Wednesday (2/18) at Timber Ridge for their final conference race of the year.
