Varsity vs Jenison High School (12 - 3) Win The HHS Varsity opened its 2026 season with a 12-3 over rival Jenison Wildcats. The Eagles were done 3-0 heading into the bottom of the 3rd inning where they tied the game 3-3 and then went on to score 9 more unanswered runs. The Eagles used 4 pitchers (Coleton Vander Ploeg, Evan McCoy, Bryton Hanke, Josh Vander Lugt and Ronin Bravata). McCoy came into the 1st inning and got the Eagles out of a jam with an important DP off a Sacrifice Fly to RF where Colin Baugher threw out runner trying to score. Vander Lugt picked up the win in relief with 5 Ks. Bravata closed the game with 2 solid innings. The Hudsy offense took advantage of 10 Wildcat walks and 3 HBPs. Sophomore Brennen Reed had a 2 run Homer and 3 RBI. Another Sophomore Brady Schutter added a double, SF and 2 RBI. The third Sophomore, Ty Ladd reached base 4 times with 3 BBs, HBP and 3 Runs. Caeden Kennedy added a double, 2 runs and 2 RBI. Junior IFer, Graeme Crooks also contributed to the offense with 2 RBI, BB and SF. The Eagles play two more games before break at home on Tuesday, March 31 vs Mona Shores and Wednesday, April 1 vs Caledonia.
