Hudsonville JV Baseball split its Friday doubleheader with Unity Christian, falling just short in the opener before bouncing back with a strong performance in Game 2. In the first game, Hudsonville nearly completed a late comeback but came up short in a 6-5 loss. The Eagles made things interesting with a rally in the seventh inning, but ran out of room to finish it off. Jack Arens provided the biggest swing of the game for Hudsonville, blasting a home run and driving in four runs. Aiden Straus added two hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while Brady Miller also collected two hits. Luke Uhlig chipped in a hit and scored twice, and both Kayden Rodriguez and Luke Pennington added hits as well. James Brock got the start on the mound and struck out four over 2.1 innings. Kayden Rodriguez came on in relief and recorded two strikeouts over 1.2 innings, while Easton Morton finished the game with three innings of relief and three strikeouts. Hudsonville responded well in the second game, earning a 6-1 win behind timely hitting and strong pitching. Kayden Rodriguez led the offense with two hits, including a triple, while scoring twice and driving in two runs. Kenten Poll added a hit and RBI, Brady Miller drove in a run, and Graham Rosema, James Brock, and Gavin Workman each recorded a hit. Kaden Condon started Game 2 and threw three strong innings, allowing just two hits. Luke Pennington took over in relief and shut things down, allowing only one hit the rest of the way. Hudsonville will return to conference play Tuesday when the Eagles take on West Ottawa.
