The Hudsonville Freshman Eagles kept their momentum rolling in game two, taking down West Ottawa 13-1 and completing a dominant doubleheader sweep. West Ottawa struck first with a run in the bottom of the first on a groundout, but it didn’t take long for the Eagles to respond—and that would be the last time they trailed. Hudsonville flipped the game in the second inning, taking a 4-1 lead with a mix of timely hitting and productive outs. Alex McCoy started things with a single, and Ryan Floriana followed with a walk. Jamison Hugo came through with an RBI single, and Trenton Ratuszny delivered in a big way from the nine spot with a run-scoring lineout that plated two. Micah McPhaul added another RBI on a lineout, capping a strong inning where the Eagles capitalized on every opportunity. The Eagles continued to build in the third, putting up five more runs. McCoy stayed hot with another RBI single, Ratuszny added a run with a groundout, and Easton Morton delivered the big swing with a two-run single. A passed ball later in the inning brought home another run as Hudsonville stretched the lead and put the game out of reach early. On the mound, Eli Feenstra set the tone with a strong start, allowing just one hit and one run over three innings while striking out three and walking two. Skyler Slotman came on in relief and shut things down with a scoreless inning, allowing no hits and striking out one. Offensively, Ratuszny led the way with three RBIs out of the nine spot, continuing to show depth throughout the lineup. Morton, McCoy, and Hugo each collected two hits, while Morton and Dakari Grays were aggressive on the bases, each swiping multiple bags. As a team, the Eagles stole six bases and consistently pressured West Ottawa’s defense. Defensively, Hudsonville was once again sharp, playing a clean game without committing an error. Gavin Workman led the team in the field with four chances, helping anchor another solid defensive effort. With the Freshman Eagles taking both of doubleheader, the Eagles now turn their focus to Thursday, when they’ll host West Ottawa at 6:00 PM looking to complete the sweep.
