The Hudsonville Freshman Eagles jumped out early and never looked back, defeating Grand Rapids Christian 12-0 in game one of Friday’s doubleheader. Easton Morton had a perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a single, double, and two RBIs to lead the offense. The Eagles broke the game open in the first inning, scoring nine runs through a mix of patience and timely hitting. Tyler Reibel and Jamison Hugo each drew bases-loaded walks, Eli Feenstra and Finnegan Rayla added RBI singles, and Morton delivered a two-run hit. A wild pitch and a hit-by-pitch to Landon Meduna also brought in runs during the big inning. Hudsonville added three more in the third, capitalizing on an error and another hit-by-pitch from Hugo to extend the lead. On the mound, Dakari Grays was dominant, tossing four innings of one-hit ball while striking out seven. The Eagles showed strong discipline at the plate with eight walks, led by Meduna and Trenton Ratuszny with two each, while Reibel added two stolen bases. A complete team effort powered Hudsonville to a convincing game one win.
