The Hudsonville Freshman Eagles kept things rolling Monday, winning their 12th straight with a strong all-around performance in game one of the doubleheader against East Grand Rapids at Southern Little League. Hudsonville broke things open in the second inning. Brady Buchanan led off with a single, and Andreson Visser followed with an RBI double. After Tyler Reibel was hit by a pitch and Eli Feenstra walked, Ty Dunbar came through with a two-run single. Micah McPhaul added another RBI knock to cap the big inning. The Eagles kept it going in the third. Dakari Grays set the tone by ripping a double to start the inning, and Tyler Reibel followed with a single to drive him in. Later in the inning, Feenstra added a double, and him and Reibel came around to score on an error to extend the lead. Offensively, Hudsonville racked up 13 hits, with Buchanan, Grays, Feenstra, Reibel, Dunbar, and McPhaul each collecting two. Grays had a standout day, smashing two doubles off the fence and consistently applying pressure at the plate, while Dunbar chipped in two RBIs from the bottom of the lineup. On the mound, Easton Morton got the start and allowed just one run over 3.1 innings while striking out five. Ryan Floriana delivered one of the biggest moments of the game out of the bullpen. Entering with the bases loaded, Floriana worked out of the jam with two huge outs to keep momentum on Hudsonville’s side. He went on to throw 1.2 scoreless innings and was lights out in relief. Floriana and Grays spilt the bill in game 1 of the doubleheader—Grays for his big extra-base hits and Floriana for his clutch performance on the mound. The Eagles were also sharp defensively, turning a double play and playing error-free baseball. With the win, Hudsonville takes game one of the doubleheader and pushes their winning streak to 12 games.
