Freshman Eagles Stay Red Hot, Roll Past East Grand Rapids 18-0 in Game Two

The Hudsonville Freshman Eagles completed the doubleheader sweep in dominant fashion, defeating East Grand Rapids 18-0 on Monday and extending their winning streak to 13 games. After a quiet first inning, the Eagles exploded in the second to take control. Ryan Floriana got things started with a fielder’s choice that brought in a run, followed by an RBI walk from Easton Morton. Dakari Grays and Skyler Slotman each added RBI singles, Landon Meduna drew a bases-loaded walk, and Trenton Ratuszny chipped in with a two-run fielder’s choice. An error capped the inning as Hudsonville put together a huge rally. The Eagles kept adding on in the third. Morton doubled down the left field line, while Landon Lameris and Ratuszny each followed with RBI singles to extend the lead. Hudsonville blew the game open in the fourth, scoring seven more runs on five hits. Tyler Reibel got it started with a two-run double, Morton stayed hot with another RBI double, and Meduna added a run-scoring single. Jamison Hugo continued the team’s disciplined approach with an RBI walk, and Floriana capped the inning with a two-run single. On the mound, Eli Feenstra was in complete control, tossing four shutout innings while allowing just three hits, striking out five, and walking none. At the plate, Hudsonville totaled 12 hits, with Morton, Reibel, and Floriana each collecting two. Morton and Floriana led the way with three RBIs apiece. The Eagles also showed tremendous patience, drawing 11 walks—Hugo led the way with three. Hudsonville stayed aggressive on the bases, swiping multiple bags, including multi-steal performances from Morton and Dakari Grays, finishing with seven total stolen bases. Defensively, the Eagles were once again flawless, not committing a single error. One of the highlights came from Floriana, who turned an unassisted double play, showcasing the team’s sharp play in the field. With the sweep, Hudsonville now turns its attention to a big matchup on Wednesday, hosting OK Red conference rival Rockford in a key doubleheader.
