Hudsonville JV Baseball put together a strong doubleheader against Grand Haven, taking both games in convincing fashion behind timely hitting, solid pitching, and steady defense throughout. Game 1 ended in a 13–3 win for the Eagles, who jumped on Grand Haven early and kept the pressure on the entire way. Hudsonville collected hits from Luke Uhlig (2), Kayden Rodriguez, Aiden Straus, Jack Arens (2), Micah McPhaul, Brady Miller, Anderson Visser, and Kenten Poll (2), showing production all through the lineup. The RBI column was just as balanced, with Uhlig driving in 2, Straus adding an RBI, Arens finishing with 4 RBIs, Skyler Slotman contributing, and Poll driving in 2 more. On the mound, Micah McPhaul gave Hudsonville a strong start, working 4 1/3 innings while allowing just three runs. Kayden Rodriguez came in to close things out, and the defense behind both pitchers was sharp and steady, helping turn routine plays and keeping Grand Haven from building anything. Game 2 followed a similar script on the scoreboard, but it didn’t start nearly as clean for Hudsonville. Offense was hard to come by early, and Grand Haven kept things tight through the first part of the game. Once the Eagles broke through, though, everything clicked—Hudsonville scored 17 runs over the final three innings to pull away for a 17–5 win. Hits came from Luke Uhlig, Kayden Rodriguez, Aiden Straus, Jack Arens (3), Micah McPhaul (3), Graham Rosema (2), Skyler Slotman, James Brock, Brady Miller, and Kenten Poll. Run production stayed spread out, with Uhlig driving in 3, Rodriguez adding 2 RBIs, Straus contributing, Arens driving in another, McPhaul with 2 RBIs, Rosema adding 2, Slotman and Brock each driving in runs, and Brock finishing with 3 RBIs, while Poll added another RBI as well. On the mound, Graham Rosema carried most of the load, going 5 innings and striking out 8 while keeping things under control. Rodriguez worked out of the bullpen before Brady Miller made his pitching debut to close it out. Once again, the defense backed up the pitching staff with clean, reliable play that helped limit extra chances for Grand Haven. With the sweep, Hudsonville heads into Thursday looking to finish the series strong and complete the job against Grand Haven.
