The Hudsonville Freshman Eagles completed the doubleheader sweep Tuesday night with a convincing 10-2 win over Byron Center in game two of double header. Hudsonville wasted no time taking control in the first inning. Brady Buchanan worked a bases-loaded walk to bring in the opening run, Landon Meduna followed by getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Alex McCoy broke the game open with a three-run double to give the Eagles an early advantage. The Eagles added on again in the second inning. Buchanan lifted a sacrifice fly to score another run, Dakari Grays lined an RBI single to left field, and McCoy stayed hot with an RBI triple down the right field line to extend the lead. Finnegan Rayla turned in one of his strongest outings of the season on the mound. The right-hander battled through five innings, allowing just two runs while striking out eight and walking only one. Rayla consistently worked out of trouble and kept Byron Center from building any momentum throughout the game. Buchanan also had an outstanding all-around performance, setting the tone offensively with quality at-bats while contributing multiple RBIs. He continued to provide leadership at the top of the lineup and helped spark several rallies. McCoy led the Eagles offensively with a huge game at the plate, driving in three runs while going 2-for-3 with a double and triple. Hudsonville also showed tremendous patience offensively, drawing seven walks in the game, with Jamison Hugo leading the way with two free passes. The Eagles stayed aggressive on the bases as well, stealing five bags overall. Ty Dunbar led the pressure attack with two stolen bases, while Hudsonville consistently forced Byron Center into difficult situations on the defensive side.
