The Hudsonville Freshman Eagles put together another complete team performance Wednesday night, defeating Zeeland East JV 8-0 behind a dominant complete game from Trenton Ratuszny. Ratuszny was in full control from the start, throwing a shutout while attacking the strike zone and working efficiently all game long. He kept Zeeland East off balance throughout the night and was backed by strong defense behind him, including a key double play turned by the Eagles defense. Hudsonville opened the scoring in the first inning after Dakari Grays ripped an RBI single to give the Eagles an early lead. The Eagles then broke things open in the second inning with a five-run outburst. Easton Morton started the rally with an RBI single, Kaden Condon followed with another run-scoring hit, and Carson Weemhoff delivered a big two-run single. Brady Buchanan capped the inning with an RBI single as Hudsonville built firm control of the game. Offensively, the Eagles totaled 10 hits on the night. Buchanan had a strong game from the seven spot in the lineup, going 2-for-3 and driving in three runs. Buchanan, Ty Dunbar, and Condon each collected two hits in the win. Hudsonville also continued to play fundamentally sound baseball defensively, turning a double play and keeping Zeeland East from creating any momentum offensively. With the win, the Eagles continue their strong finish to the season and will wrap up the year Friday, May 23rd, with a doubleheader at Jenison against a talented Wildcats squad.
