Hudsonville Girls Swim & Dive Defeats Hamilton

Hudsonville’s girls swim and dive team earned a 103–83 victory over Hamilton on September 18, showcasing solid depth throughout the meet. The Eagles were especially strong in freestyle, sprint events, and relays, but also showed balanced strength in the strokes and diving. The Eagles opened with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, where the “A” squad of Grace Van De Burg, Taylor Vaiana, Nora VanEerden, and Brianne Butler touched 1st in 1:58.55. Hudsonville’s “B” team of Bailey Bakker, Alexa Kramer, Alaina Bolles, and Makenzie Milward finished 3rd (2:06.97) In the 200 freestyle, the Eagles went 1–2–4–5, led by Emerson Roberts (1st, 2:05.50), Kayla Bolhuis (2nd, 2:06.84), and Aalyiah Bukvic (4th, 2:11.31). Klara Wimpee added a 5th-place finish in 2:16.74. Hudsonville placed four in the top 7 of the 200 IM, with Nora VanEerden (2nd, 2:19.14), Allison Kucek (3rd, 2:39.15), Katelyn Wiles (4th, 2:39.22), and AlainaBolles (7th, 2:41.55). In the 50 freestyle, Hudsonville swept the top three: Bri Butler (1st, 25.85), Grace Van De Burg (2nd, 26.87), and Bailey Bakker (3rd, 27.11). Kenzie Milward added a 4th-place finish (27.56), while Grace Reinke was 7th (29.31). Hudsonville placed two divers in the top 5: Sydney Davidson 2nd with 173.40 points, and Avery Minder 5th at 155.90, both season bests. The 100 butterfly saw Taylor Vaiana take 2nd (1:05.95), followed by Natalie Berry (3rd, 1:15.23), Alaina Bolles (4th, 1:15.40), and Kylee Holwerda (5th, 1:21.04). Kayla Bolhuis returned to win the 100 freestyle in 58.93, supported by Jaycee Clemens (3rd, 1:03.26), Grace Reinke (5th, 1:04.81), and Alexa Kramer (7th, 1:07.46). The 500 freestyle was another Hudsonville showcase, with Aalyiah Bukvic (2nd, 5:53.10), Katelyn Wiles (3rd, 6:05.31), and Bailey Bakker (4th, 6:13.53) all placing in the top four. Allison Kucek (5th, 6:25.48) and Reese Schmidt (6th, 6:28.10) also finished in the top 8. In the 200 freestyle relay, Hudsonville secured both 2nd and 3rd: the “Senior” team (Horlings, Bolhuis, Bolles, Wiles) finished in 1:52.68, while the “Junior” relay (Milward, Clemens, Reinke, Kucek) swam 1:53.61. The “Sophomore” (1:55.85) and “Freshman” (1:57.37) teams also placed in the top 8. Freshman Klara Wimpee powered to a win in the 100 backstroke (1:09.61), with Kenzie Milward 2nd (1:14.68) and Kylee Holwerda 6th (1:18.88). In the 100 breaststroke, Alexa Kramer was 2nd (1:16.84), Josie Horlings 3rd (1:22.70), and Natalie Berry 5th (1:27.41). Mira Zomerlei (7th, 1:30.29) and Lauren Cox (8th, 1:32.53) rounded out the top 8. The closing 400 freestyle relay saw multiple Hudsonville teams place. While the “A” relay (3:52.39) posted the fastest time overall, it swam as exhibition. The “D” relay of Lamfers, Jones, Renfroe, and Cox earned an official 3rd-place finish in 4:49.55. The “B” (4:10.20) and “C” (4:26.22) quartets also competed in the top 8.
